Outing to Big Tree Park in Sanford

This is 'The Senator' at Big Tree Park.

Since Kara has a natural talent for art and an interest in photography, we decided to let her have the camera whenever we go somewhere now. She got some great pics!

We had been to this park when the kids were quite small, so decided to go again. Not much to do there, just a simple boardwalk over the natural Florida brush, and a park for children and two huge trees to look at.

After visiting the park, we decided to go to historic Sanford. It is quite small, but has some great architecture and the view on Lake Monroe is beautiful! There is a walkway along the lake that names all the veterans in each of the wars, it gives such a patriotic feeling. There was also a huge alligator floating in the lake. We are so used to seeing alligators in Tampa, in our back yard, that we are all convinced he was fake!
